Can New Pajamas Help You Sleep Better?

Taking care of ourselves means a lot more than getting enough exercise and paying attention to what we eat. It also means getting enough sleep and being good to ourselves …. Treating ourselves to the little things that can make us feel self-confident and happy.  If you are a person whose overall sense of wellbeing is being affected by a lack of sleep, one of the easiest fixes available may be as simple as going to the nearest mall and picking up a great new pair of pajamas.

You may think that sounds crazy. After all, after a full day of taking care of your responsibilities, whatever they may be, it may be all you can do to pull off your daytime clothes before you crawl into bed and turn off the lights, but the truth is that the comfort and appearance of your bed can make a tremendous difference in the way you feel about yourself and in the quality of your sleep. The same is true for having a terrific pair of sheets.

Think about what it feels like when you check into a nice hotel that has a beautiful, pristine set of soft white sheets on an elaborately made bed. Doesn’t that make you feel pampered? Don’t you always have the best night’s sleep in those beds? They are designed to make you feel pampered as part of your overall experience, and there’s no reason why you can’t do the same for yourself at home.

Buying good quality sheets doesn’t mean that you have to break the bank. There are plenty of discount stores and websites that sell sheets for every size bed that are high quality, high thread count, and designed to make your bed a much more comfortable place, all for a reasonable price. And the same is true of your bed clothes. Instead of pulling on your old college sweatshirt or something else that is too big and therefore terribly unflattering, pick up something soft and fitted that will make you feel better about yourself. Pajamas don’t have to be too big to be comfortable, and the look you get at yourself in those floppy, messy cast-offs as you brush your teeth before you go to bed is not doing anything positive for your self -esteem.

Going to bed doesn’t have to become a fashion show, but you’ll be amazed at how big a difference you’ll find in your attitude about going to bed when you can look forward to climbing into a bed that is attractively made up with fresh, clean, soft sheets and you’re crawling in between them wearing pajamas that make you feel attractive while still providing you with comfort.  Your additional confidence will translate into letting go of worry, whether about something that happened during the day or whether you’re going to get a decent night’s sleep tonight, and soon you’ll be heading to hotel-quality sleep in your own bedroom.
